Bloom Into Spring Exchange 2012

I am very excited to have participated the Bloom Into Spring gift exchange hosted by Meagan at Local at Last and Lisha from One House, One Couple. They gathered together and paired up a bunch of great bloggers to celebrate spring the good old fashioned snail mail way! :)

I was lucky enough to be paired up with Cindy from This and That.  She is so sweet and I have enjoyed getting to know her though her blog, which I found out about all thanks to this little exchange!  Last week I received an awesome care package of springtime goodies.I got an adorable little duck pail filled to the brim with Reeses and Cadbury eggs (okay, you caught me!  Between receiving the package that night and taking pictures the next day, Walker and I ate most of the candy already!). She also included two shades of nail polish, some amazing cherry lotion, a cute little pink striped dish with a lid, and this amazing cup with a built in curly straw!

Naturally I had to drink a chai tea latte and give myself a manicure (while polishing off those last few eggs of course).  The pink nail polish was perfect to pair with a really sparkly pale pink that I used on my ring fingers (hard to see in this pic- sorry).A big thank you to Cindy for her thoughtful/delicious gift and to Lisha & Meagan for arranging this exchange.  If you’d like to check out what I sent Cindy, check it out on her blog.  Here is a sneak peak!

Love Love Love

Happy belated Valentine’s day!  I thought it would be fun to have a little photo recap of our Valentine’s day (since posting everything yesterday would have ruined the surprise).

Beautiful “Flowers… by Walker” delivered to the office!  So gorgeous and most haven’t even opened yet so they will last f-o-r-e-v-e-r like my birthday flowers.

The card I made for Walker with a DIY wine cork heart stamp (see below)

DIY wine cork stamp: draw the shape on top of the cork and use a razor blade to remove the pieces around it.  The rougher the cork edge, the more textured the stamp!
Amazing vintage owl locket ring that Walker gave me!  Spoiler alert: there is a picture of us smooching inside :)
Walker’s love note to me and the book & comics I got him

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Upgrade the Tunes: CHECK!

As soon as I had published yesterday’s post, Walker and I sat down to exchange gifts for the holidays. Guess what I got…

… an Innovative Technology ITVS-750 Wooden Music Centre, complete with a turntable!  Yay!  We did some vinyl shopping today and have been listening to albums all day.  It sounds awesome and I am so excited to build my vinyl collection.  Right now I basically only own 3 Paul Simon albums. :)

So 1 resolution down, 4 to go!

1. ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE! – Ok, so I do this every year but it is so important! When Walker moved in we found a place to put everything and have ignored it since. But in the next few weeks we will be getting a detached garage space (YIPPEE FINALLY!) and can stash some of our stuff in the extra storage. Sounds like a good excuse to do some weeding out of the excess and give us some breathing room.

2. CREATE A NEW DUAL WORKSPACE – Currently both of our computers are sitting on a desk I originally bought for myself that I Frankenstein-ed to accommodate both of us. However, there is no room to move or work… just barely enough room to click. So we have started some beginning plans on creating a new dual workspace that will actually meet our needs.

3. UPGRADE THE TUNES – We have been talking about getting a record player for the living room because we both LOVE listening to music. Walker even has a mini record collection started so we have some great stuff to listen to when we actually take the plunge. We anticipate a little extra space once we get the garage space and new desk so we hope to make it work sooner rather than later.

4. KITCHEN LOVE – The living room and bedroom have been slowly transformed to merge our styles since Walker moved in. However, with the exception of an additional calendar and some art, the kitchen looks exactly the same. I think he and I need to put our heads together and see what we want to do with this room.

5. BATHROOM SOS – Other than towels, curtains, and a bathmat, I have yet to do anything with the bathroom. This is the year to start!
